Congresses run by the NSWBA and its affiliated clubs are held
throughout the year. The dates of these events are available on the NSWBA Congress Calendar.
NSWBA Congress Calendar
In 2022 State Championship events are being run by the NSWBA, Central Coast Leagues Club BC and the Tomaree BC. Players from all clubs may play in any of the State events.
All clubs are invited to participate in the State Mixed Pairs, State Open Pairs and State Open Teams Championships and also the State Wide Pairs
and State Under 100MP Pairs Championship conducted by the NSWBA each year.
EVENTS RUN BY THE NSWBA
INTERSTATE TEAMS SELECTION (ITS) - 2022
The NSWBA will send 4 teams to the Australian National Championships in Adelaide, 3-8 July to compete in the Open, Women's, Seniors' and Youth Interstate Teams.
The Interstate Teams Selection events run in four separate divisions - Open, Women's, Seniors' and Youth. Seniors must be born before 1/1/1961 and Youth must be born on or after 1/1/1997.
Sessions are to be played at either the NSWBA or online on the the RealBridge platform, dependent on COVID-19 restrictions.

Stage I: Mondays 10, 24 & 31 January
Stage II: Mondays 28 February, 14 & 21 March
Final: Saturday 23 April & Sunday 24 April
The Women's I.T.S. will be held over a single weekend.
Qualifying: Friday 28 January
Final: Saturday 29 January & Sunday 30 January
The Seniors’ I.T.S. will be held over a single weekend.
Qualifying: Friday 20 May
Final: Saturday 21 May & Sunday 22 May
Wednesdays 20 & 27 April, 6.30pm (2 sessions)

TIM SERES NATIONAL PAIRS
A 2 week matchpoint pairs event Mondays 7 February and 21 March.
ITS SWISS PAIRS
Swiss Pairs with Butler scoring. Held in parallel with the Open ITS Stage II, Mondays 28 February, 14 & 21 March. All players are welcome.
CITY OF SYDNEY TEAMS
A 3 week Board-a-match teams event commencing Monday 28 March. Every team scores either 0, 1 or 2 on each board.
STATE MIXED PAIRS QUALIFYING
A 2 week match-pointed pairs event Mondays 2 & 9 May. Non-mixed pairs may play in the qualifying rounds.
The NSWBA will pay the entry fee to
the week-end final on 28-29 May for the top 6th of the field.
ANC BUTLER PAIRS
A 4 week Butler pairs event commencing Monday 16 May. Winners of the Open and Women's fields will receive grants (in the form of having their
entry fees paid) to attend the ANC Butler Pairs in Adelaide in July, 2022.
GNOT NATIONAL FINAL QUALIFYING EVENT
A 5 week knock-out teams event (28 board matches) with Swiss repechage (14 board
matches) Mondays 20 & 27 June, 18 & 25 July, 1 August. Two teams qualify directly to the National Final, held from 25-28 November.
One seventh of the field will qualify for the GNOT Metropolitan Final to be held on 17-18 September.
STATE OPEN PAIRS QUALIFYING
A 2 week match-pointed pairs event Mondays 4 & 11 July. The NSWBA will pay the entry fee to the week-end final on 19-20 November for the top 6th of the field.
JOHN ARKINSTALL STATE OPEN TEAMS QUALIFYING
A 4 week teams event commencing Monday 8 August. Two teams will qualify directly to the State Finals to be held 9-11 December (TBC). Up to 3 teams will receive free entry to the Jacaranda Teams Congress on 16 October.
Teams from the affiliated clubs, representing the metropolitan, outer metropolitan and country regions also qualify for the Finals.
STATE MIXED TEAMS
A 3 week Swiss teams event commencing Monday 5 September. Each partnership must contain one female and one male player. Non-mixed teams may enter as non-contending teams.
MATCHPOINT SWISS PAIRS
A 3 week Matchpointed Pairs event with matchpoints converted to VPs Mondays 10, 17 & 31 October.
STATE SWISS PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP
A 3 week Swiss pairs event with Butler scoring commencing Monday 7 November.
A 4 week Swiss teams event with scoring based on a combination of IMPs and
board-a-match commencing Monday 28 November.
GRAND NATIONAL OPEN TEAMS
The Grand National Open Teams is an Australia-wide event conducted by the Australian Bridge Federation Inc (ABF). It is the only opportunity for players to earn Gold Masterpoints in their local club.
The National Final will be held on 25-28 November. The NSWBA is the organising body for all regions in NSW and will send 22 teams to the finals, 7 of the teams coming from the Sydney Metropolitan region
and the remaining teams from elsewhere in NSW. More details can be found on the GNOT page.
TEAMS OF THREE CONGRESS - 5 June
Three players enter and randomly draw a Master player as their fourth for the day. Only simple bidding systems may be used and no Grand Masters may enter (except as team captains). The captain will play two matches with each of the team members.
