Results

The final results for the inaugural Under 100 Masterpoints Championships are now available.

A total of 155 UHMP sessions were played at 52 different clubs during September - October qualifying over a thousand pairs for the Local Finals. Local Finals, in which 276 pairs competed, were played on 29th November at 19 separate venues around the state. The scores from all venues were matchpointed across the state and the results are presented in the following files:

Masterpoint awards
These were calculated on the non-handicapped results and all pairs playing in the Finals were eligible to win masterpoints. The awards were calculated separately in the four different divisions: 0-9.99, 10-24.99, 25-49.99 & 50-99.99.

Prizes
Only pairs that paid the $4 UHMP entry fee (either at the NSBC Local Final or at a club qualifying event held during September or October) were eligible for prizes.

The top prize of an ABF grant of $2000 to attend the Restricted Butler Pairs at the Brisbane ANC is based on the non-handicapped scores. Congratulations to Ken and Susan McMahon from Wagga Wagga. All other prizes are awarded on the basis of the handicapped results.

Medals and cash ($300, $200 & $100 respectively) are awarded to the pairs coming first, second and third overall.
1st Ray Hurst - Heidi Colenbrander (0-9.99)
2nd Laurence Priddle - Robyn Lawrence (50-99.99)
3rd Ken McMahon - Susan McMahon (50-99.99)

Divisional prizes will be awarded to those pairs who have not already received a cash prize for finishing in the top three placings. So prizes will also be awarded to the pairs running 4th and 5th in the 50-99.99 division and 4th in the 0-9.99 division. Winning pairs in each Masterpoint Division win $100, whilst each runner-up receives a voucher from the Bridge Shop worth $30. In addition, all the prize winners listed have won subscriptions to the Novice Edition of Australian Bridge magazine. Winners need to email me at uhmp@nswba.com.au or warren@nswba.com.au  and tell me your email address so that your on-line subscription can be set up.

Certificates will also be issued to the winners in each division at each of the centres holding local finals. Winners of major prizes can expect to receive them sometime in January.

These new State Pairs Championships are restricted to those players with fewer than 100 masterpoints. Qualifying sessions are held in your club and the Finals are held at multiple venues around the state, thus eliminating problems associated with travel times and accommodation costs.

Red masterpoints are issued at level B4s and will be paid for by the NSWBA. Masterpoints are calculated and awarded separately in each masterpoint division.

Entry fee is just $2.00 per player, payable when you play your club qualifying session.

Prizes (cash, subscriptions to the Novice Australian Bridge magazine and certificates) will be awarded separately in each masterpoint division.
