GAY MARX
Gay Marx was
Secretary of the FABC and a councillor including representing the FABC on the
NSWBA council for many years.
Gay and her family had lived through some hard times after they emigrated to Australia from Germany in 1939 when she was 8 years old at the outbreak of war. Maths was one of her strengths and interests influencing her choices of jobs, employment and leisure activities, bridge being one of the prominent ones.
Gay was also involved in Probus, volunteer work with several charity organisations, ready with help and advice and contributed to several charities financially. She involved herself in the running of organisations with which she was linked trying to do her part to improve the benefits of affiliated bridge clubs as a councillor of the FABC.
Gay had moved to the Manors of Mosman hoping to have mobility issues catered for in her later years but unfortunately health issues overcame her. She also loved organising a Trivia night team at the Manors every year which she enjoyed.
Gay will be remembered as someone who tried to help people practically and with advice - whether they wanted it or not - but was honest and up front in her dealings with people.
Gay passed away on July 24, 2010 after a long illness. She was 79 years old.
