Change to NSW Law may affect Club Constitutions

Many bridge clubs in NSW may currently operate under the NSW Associations Incorporation Act 1984 . The new Associations Incorporation Act 2009 and Associations Incorporation Regulation 2010 will commence on 1 July 2010.

The Government says the changes are designed to modernise the law, reduce red tape and allow more flexibility for associations, and to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Apology

On the Queen’s Birthday weekend, the air-conditioning in 162 Goulburn Street broke down. I understand that the air-conditioner system’s water tank on the top floor of the building sprang a leak and the system had to be taken out of service while it was repaired.

Some of our players had a very cold bridge session as a result. We are really sorry about that. I would like to thank our office staff for their quick action to get in temporary heaters for our floor until the system came back to life, and convey our special apologies to the players who were affected.
